I worked for one company on an embassy project and I had a great time, learning what goes on with such a project and getting in tune with the way things are.

I also worked for a contractor to the army and saw some piss poor things going on, with them "hiding" managers from the parent companies on the island and then denying accompanied status to those who held supervisor positions. Even the government folks said this, so we'll see if they are granted an extension of the contract or not.

I do agree that how the local project managers are determines whether the experience is good or not.

:banghead Sounds like somone's been to Kwajalein!!

Beautiful downtown Kwaj--Macys--GIMBLES (ON rOI nAMUR)--surf way and other assorted two bit operations--and don't overlook the Yuck club or the shark pit.

Yea, was there for a little over a year, but not getting accompanied status and being a supervisor and having a couple of guys working for me with accompanied status, I said screw it.

KRSJV (Bechtal, Lockheed-Martin &Chucach) had the contract, but with the cutbacks in the budget due to the Iraq war, cuts were made. But they always seemed to find a way for accompanied status for someone who needed a place to sit for awhile.

It was a good place to work and live. The big money was long gone, they went to an 80 hour timesheet, which meant that if you worked OT one week, you were to take that time off before the end of the time period.

Yeah, but the "pretty" girls looked like my bare ass and they had a line of guys trying to hook up.

As the saying in Kwaj went, "You don't lose a girlfriend, just a turn" !!!!!!!!!!

I spent 4 years there in the early 90's. My buddy the dentist and I started the Kwaj Pipes and Drums. I really loved it there. I had so many friends, and memories...rom fishing for tuna, and marlin, to over 1000 dives in crystal clear water....and that's just where I want them to remain, as fond memories. It was my way to get my foot into the door, and I first received a secret, and then my TS...it has been all worth it. And as far as the girls, mine were always the best, but they were always the hardest to keep with so many guys hanging around, but that's half the fun:cheers .

They had a pretty decent dentist when I got there, but he wanted a house with a better view and found a couple of empty's he would settle for, but KRS refused him the move so he packed up and left with his family. The Pipes and Drums are still there, always involved in the events, Maybe I can post a few pictures taken in the past couple of years. I've met a lot of guys who have worked there over the years and with all the memories say they still wouldn't go back.

The"family's" sex toy once had a t-shirt on that said,
"Let go of my ears, I know what I'm doing"

He was a good sheet metal worker at least.

I forgot all about that one, But I remember it well. Almost blew a brew thru my nose reading it. And a damn fine cook.
