We are getting bigger and stronger on this site.

Have any of you gave any thought concerning family health insurance?

"Rat Pack" is now large enough for our own insurance group to be considered, You go out for a contractor (anywhere) they pay your group insurance, we have set up, you get out of work, you can then pay it your self.

I imagine a lot of you younger guys say, hell, I do not need insurance!

Better think again, if you do not have it for your family, what will you do if your pregnant wife has problems? Are one of your children ends up with a heart defect, guys just one big time medical problem, can cost thousands and tens of thousands of hard earned dollars.

Plus try to get new coverage when you have a major medical problem, most insurance companys will not even talk to you! The one's that will, are not bashful to ask 12 to 1400.00 a mo. for a very basic coverage for 1 person.

I know we know have on site ----
our own mex fishing guide,
our own tax man,
our own stock man,
our own tech man,
Do we have an insurance man / woman in the pack??? Speak up.....

It seems to me if each and every one of us when presented with a contract, first thing out of box, I prefer you pay my group insurance that I have through "rat pack". When 2 or 3 hundred workers tell the contractors this, they will set up and take notice.

Some of you that have insurance connections see what you can find out.

Hey Guys,
I think this might get it for you, as far as residing overseas w/ your family, or getting yourself some insurance for a basic policy of $5 million if you are working overseas, and a deductable of average $500-$1000 per incident, depending on the plan you choose. My company uses IMG Insurance. I pay $1200.00 a year, it has it's limits for basic, but if basic is what you need if you have nothing... contact info...

This is very interesting, but I'm not sure as to how to go about setting it up if it were possible. (sitting here wondering)

Great idea Mex! Try put out a poll and see how many rats are interested and then request from several companies about group packages and what they offer...at least you'll have a rough figure on how big a group you've got.:2cents

Damn great idea Mex! You can count me in.:cheers

It is good for my heart to see the group get behind some thing that would benefit us all.

Headrat, what do you think? Maybe contact all the major insurance companys, find out what it takes to get a decent group rate? Maybe ask them what kind of info. they need? % men / women, average age, average family size, etc.?

If we are up to 400 strong, even if 1/2 of us decided to go for the insurance,
that should make up a good group, besides most of the group are young, that is a benefit.

I have insurance now, that is the reason I am up to date on cost. It is awful!

Right now I am still home, if you will give me some guidance, I will be glad to try for some information. I am due to go out again next week, but if my wife is not better I will stay home another week.

Let me hear from you, want me to try to start it off?:rockwoot:

Rough out line of a poll & questionnaire.

Yes No -
Are you interested group health insurance through rat pack? ----
Yourself -----------------------------------------------------
Spouse -------------------------------------------------------
Children -----------------------------------------------------

Your age group
18 – 25 – (1) ---------------------------------------------
25 – 35 – (2) -----------------------------------------------
35 0 45 – (3) -----------------------------------------------
45 – 55 – (4) ----------------------------------------
55 – 65 – (5) -------------------------------------------------
Over 65 – (6) ---------------------------------------------
Male ---------------------------------------------------------
Female --------------------------------------------------------

Spouse
Age group – male - female

Children Male Female
0-5 ------ (1) -------------------
5 ----10 - (2) -----------------
10 – 15 – (3) ------------
15 – 20 – (4) ---------------

This would give us some information to present to the different insurance company’s.
Above just gives us something to start with & improve on.

I think we should have a committee to proceed with this. Excluding counsel members -

Get some new blood involved in this, fresh energy – unless of course counsel members wish to volunteer? If Head Rat, does not object? I call for volunteers to serve on this committee. Also ask Jester or tech rat, to put above in the correct format, Please.

IMPROVE ON THE ABOVE FORM, SUB MIT IT BACK TO THE MEMBERS, WHEN APPROVED ASK FOR INSURANCE CO, REPS. TO LOOK AT THE INFORMATION, AND SUB-MIT US SOME FIGURES.

I know some international policies cover flying your ass from Timbuktu back home to a real hospital in the states or else where. It might be a consideration or option to kick around .

Mexfishguide:cheersI'd say you have a WAY BIGGER handle on how to get this together. I'm searching on Yahoo, but I'm not sure I know how to even begin to try to look for the Ins. Co's or what to look for. I'm going to make this your project and once we find out the member interest vs. possible savings we'll decide if this is feasable or not. I like the plan though, it's just beyond me as to how to research and impliment it.

We need to get tech rat, to set the poll up so folks can just log on and add their info. similiar to a regular voting poll.

That way we can get some totals with put chasing folks down.

If we can bring this about it would be an advantage no other site has!!!

just a quick question. Will the subscriber get a better rate than the registered user :kib:

I'm not sure how it all breaks down, Member vs. Subscriber, but I would like to see this be a benefit that reaches out to ALL overseas workers. However, MexFish is putting in a TON of effort to try and make this work or at least see the possiblities.
