You can read through all the threads and posta, where you will find the same thing, ask about and talked about!

Low and lower wages, low and lower per deim! :AR15

A fairly large portion of the international workers of us embassy projects, either belong to this group or at least come on site and lurk around.

I suggest we as a group of professional overseas workers get together as a group and figure out how to stop the down ward spiral of wages, per deim, and perks.

I hear company people say oh we pay less because the place is extremely nice, etc, I go to work overseas for the money I can bring home not to have a vacation.

Per deim, our government sets the per deim rate for forgein countries, for a reason, it is what they figure it takes to carry on with life in that certain area. I think most of us are grown men and can figure out where we want to stay motel, hotel, apartment, house, on the street, etc. I allso think we all ete different kinds of food, and can make up our own mind, where we get it at.
When I hear company furnished meals, I automaticly run backwards,
been there a few times and most of the time it is garbage. You are fed on site for only one reason, to keep you on site, so you don't take an extra 10 minutes for lunch thats the only reason!!!!
I do not and will not share a room with any one except my wife, and I have no use for barracks living, you may be be the best hand on the job, but a jerk off site, I will live with you.
Wages, it takes a certain amount of money to send to your family at home, so they may live a reasonably comfortable life style. It makes no difference where in the world I am working?? It still takes a certain for my fmily to get by on??? It can be china or japan or Aruba, that doe's not change the cost of living in the good ol USA!!!!
Any where we work and I mean anywhere, journey persons pay should never be considered at less then us$30.00 per hour, at a guaranteed 60 hrs per week. Foremans pay @ us$3.00 above journeypersoms pay, general foremans pay @ us$3.00 above foreparsons pay. Superintendents what ever they can agree on. This way if journey base is us$35.00 others rates go up at the same time.

I may get some arguments over this, but, we need a helpers rate, because so many are sent to us as journey people and they are not!!!!! If a person has no journey license or can not prove a completed apprenticeship, they are helpers and should be paid at around 75% of journey pay if they have proof of employment in the trade of 5 years.
:banghead
Per deim - 100% of government posted rate - paid 7 days a week , if the company decides to furnish the lodging and a person agrees to it, then the rate has to be agreed on between the parties and that amount deducted from the daily per deim, if the company wants to furnish meals, then agree what will be paid for them, you either ete with the co. are furnish your own.

yep, the only way to make it stop and to take control is if we ALL stand together. Enough of us stood together so that a job site HAD to change from roommates to single apts to get people, we can do it on pay too. :cheers

What I do and think we all should do is, don’t leave your home for less that FULL PER DIEM. If everyone was to say NO to 85% of MI&E and a hole in the wall hotel, the fat cats would have no choice but to pay what they are supposed to. I am tired of hearing companies say " oh full per diem was not in the bid". Bullshit...
Like they say “Your house burned down, F U pay me... Your sister died, F U pay me... Times are hard, F U pay me... Until we all stand a firm ground and say no to these pukes we are not going to get shit. I have been doing this long enough to know that these fat cats make hand over fist on our sweat. They need to start paying us what we deserve, not less...

Also, Just because you spend 10 yrs doing lights in the Air Force does not make you a Journeyman....This is one main reason why AdTech went down the septic tank.

My 2 cents
