Thats right.....in here there be good information. AARGGH.

Just look around the site and explore. I have been a member since 2006 and still am finding cool stuff everywhere. Don't be afraid to ask questions. All of us will help you. This is not a job board or hall, so don't expect a job to be handed to you. DO check out the forums section where you will find everything from some H*O*T rat pack chicks to company contacts. These contacts took many years to accumulate and this is where you will get the job of your dreams. It requires that you identify the companies you wish to contact, send them your resume, and follow up until you get a bite. Might be a week....might be several months.
In the meantime, get to know the guys and the site.

Welcome.

You seem to me a different kind of fellar, not strange just a little different.
WHY ? - well most wanta be think all pipe work is done by plumbers. There is a lot of difference in the 2 trades, sure round pipe is involved in both - but when it comes to valves & fittings, there is a difference. For example some very qualified union men sign the books as
( plumber/fitter/welder ) some as only plumber, pipefitter are welder only. Some folks ridecule the trade but a good pipefitter can usually work somewhere.

I do have to say in all honesty "very few firms" hire helpers/learners, for overseas work, I do not mean to damper your spirit. I know for a fact the pipe trades in most areas have a 5 year apprenticeship.I think your first step would be stateside as a pipe helper/apprentice, if you are serious to learn the trade? It could be you have to move to where the work is? Try all the undergroung utility contractors first, try your local vo-tech for a night class, show people you are serious about the trade. I see by your post you are not a kid so do not take this post the wrong way.

Take care
