Thought some of you guys might want to know. I came here to Afghanistan with KBR, out of work for 9 months and KBR offered a job first, in any case, I, and others that were on the camp transitioned over to DynCorp, who has taken over a lot of camps (Fluor has the rest) DynCorp sub-contracted with Agility and TAOS for a number of things and as it turns out, the U.S. military caught Agility "trafficing" not sure in what, but it got their contracts cancelled, their sub-contracts with DynCorp cancelled and their people on this camp are being offered positions with DynCorp in place..Anything else I could say about the situation would be my opinion, but the above is confirmed at management meetings and by the Military. Maybe job possibilities, so look at Fluor (good company) and DynCorp which I chose to go with and both companies have many camps planned for construction or at least transition. Hope this may help someone.

Fluor & Dyncorp both have numerous jobs posted. I'm looking for Construction ie; Carpenter, Carpenter Foreman, Constr. Mgr., Constr. Super. Fluor's Job Board showing requests for 10-15 carpenters and 10-15 foreman/mgr/super.
Most were posted w/in last 3 days. I'm a first-timer, so my question is how long does the resume review, candidate selection, hiring process take. Are we talking months ,weeks ,days? Having never done overseas work, any
tips, info., POC's would be a great help!!! From what I see on the Jobs Board they are really ramping up!! Thanks, Jim from SA Tx!:dankk2:

When I first came on with KBR in '03 my resume went in one day and they wanted me to leave the next day! Some have been a little different, but if given an offer letter you will probably leave pretty quickly. Having a security clearance opens up lots of doors that not having one closes. Having a passport expedites things some too. Other members likely have different experiences, but those I related are pretty standard in my experience and I have been doing this only for 6 years and 5 different companies.

Can a security clearance be obtained before recieving an offer. If so, how, how much, and who should I contact. Thanks!!! Jim

There are people on this site that probably know more about that than I do, but I believe unless you already have a clearance for some reason, the only way to get one is for a company that requires it to sponsor you for one and pay for the investigation. Again, I'm sure more details can be had on this site and I know there is a thread relative to just that subject. Look in all of the threads again and find it, it may help. I understand Fluor and DynCorp in the last 3 days have posted a lot of jobs and getting a clearance takes some time now and you may want to be working before then.

Unfortunately, the only thing you can do to help in getting a clearance is to stay out of trouble (felony, DUI, child support, IRS, etc.), and be at the top of your discipline. Know your craft inside and out and be willing to travel and help others as multi craft is a word now in OBO vernacular, so you have to be willing to help others crafts.
