Does this date ring a bell rats?

The morning started as most mornings did in Hawaii: with a beautiful breeze precedeing a gorgeous sunrise. The island awakened with no thought of the death and valor about to sweep away the sweet scent of flowers, only to be replaced with the acrid smell of gunpowder, burning rubber, and flesh.

December 07, 1941. The day that will live in infamy.

The cowardly sneak attack by the imperial japanese navy sunk four U.S. battleships (two of which would be raised to fight again!), also sank or damaged three cruisers, three destroyers, and three minelayers, with the loss of American life at 2,402 KIA and 1282 wounded or missing in the space of a bit over two and one half hours.
It also pissed us off well and good.

1st. wave:183 planes-
the only aierial opposition came from a handful of p-36HAWKS and p-40WARHAWKS and a few DAUNTLESS bombers launched from the carrier ENTERPRISE. Hopelessly outgunned and outnumbered they nevertheless managed to bring down 3-4 enemy planes at a loss of 100%. To a man.
(this is the same ENTERPRISE that fought at GUADACANAL and LEYTE and was reported to be engulfed in flames and sunk by Jap bomber pilots. What they did not understand was the courage and skill of the men that would become known as Fighting Seabees. These men welded steel runners on the deck WHILE the ship burned, returned her planes and pilots, put out the fires, and was steaming into battle again within 27 hours, minus several hundred loss of crewmen. She was ultimately sunk with great loss of life but not until her planes had sent Yamagughi and Arroyo to the ocean floor, the Yamaguchi with terrible loss of life. I say terrible here knowing that in the battles for the Pacific theater no quarter was ever asked and none was ever given. This was brutal warfare the likes of which had not been seen since the civil war between the states. This was war beyond boundries, at least until the war on terror. I do not doubt that there were jap beheadings during WWII, they just did not have the internet then. The enemy now enjoys the favor of the trash media. I have noticed you don't see much of their loud obnoxous type around here anymore now that they have been declared fair game =:~)
They prefer to stay holed up in the hotel jupitor or any place safe from fighting.

2nd wave: 171 planes

California was hit by two bombs and two torpedoes. Her crew might have kept her floating, but were ordered to abandon ship just as they were able to power up her pumps.
The USS Arizona took a modified 40cm (16in.) shell to her forward magazine and the resulting explosion caused the greatest loss of life. Over 1500 sailors died in a horrible explosion of fire and steam in the course of 10-12 seconds. When the Arizonas boilers were breached the steam and engulfing flames kept help at bay for many hours, and in an ironic twist, killed at least two Jap Zero pilots who were stupid enough to think they could fly through the cloud of debris thrown up by her death rattles. A final and fitting tribute that this gallant ship would kill her antagonizers when her crew could not.

possible 3rd wave:

Admiral Nogumo was urged to launch a third strike.
He thought better of it after feeling the sting of returned American anti-aircraft fire and the EXTREME bravery of the few pilot who were not killed, but somehow got into the air that day. They emptied their machine guns into hundreds of jap planes and made them pay a price.

So far away.....so far away...in time....

Time has a way of making us minimize, making us forget.

DONT.
Dont forget what was done to us as a nation on 09/11/2001
The terorrist act of 09/11 was absolutly nefarious and evil.

I will do everything in my power to make the jihadiis and the libtards of the world suffer for their choices.

Vote damn you, VOTE!

ENOUGH. GO NAVY!

The real target of the Japanese was the aircraft carriers that, as luck would have it, were late returning from a training cruise.

One of the results of the Pearl Harbor attack was that since most of the battleships were either destroyed or heavily damaged, it forced the US Navy to change tactics and rely on aircraft carriers as the primary method of force projection. Until that time battleships were king.

Also, they didn't hit the dry docks because the battle ships were in the way. This helped us recover faster from the attack. As well planned and as much of a surprise as the attack was, they didn't execute it very well and they TOTALLY didn't count on the American resolve to fight back.
