I have been working in Iraq and Af for the last 4.5 years. The last 2 years in Iraq makeing a really decent wage. I went over as a traveling carpenter but was put in a superintendants position. I would like to work somewhere else other then the middle east, possible south or central america. I am wondering if anybody knows what a commercial carpenter with 28 years and a active TS/SCI could expect to make. Also about how much the per diem rate is. I know everything depends on the location, just looking for a average.

I don't know about salaries in those areas but DoS per diem info can be found here (http://aoprals.state.gov/content.asp?content_id=184&menu_id=78). DoD per diem info can be found here (http://www.defensetravel.dod.mil/perdiem/pdrates.html).

I did not mean to imply he was from Oklahoma, but Baja Oklahoma, or as some people call it, Texas. I know he has a good sense of humor and hope he took it the right way. And I apologize to all for getting off topic. And, WR, I AM an Okie from Muskogee, unlike Merle Haggard who was raised in Bakersfield, CA, I believe. Thanks for noticing me.
