Were any of our rat pack - in are around the big fire in Bangkok? Several of the pack, use Thailand as a home base, not that they would be in such a place drinking and having fun, but maybe they were passing by on the way to a camp meeting.:blahslap

Nope I live in Pattaya about 2 hours from the mentioned club in Bangkok. I did tip a few :cheers with a friend, and went home to the new baby and Mama and watched all the fireworks from the patio. That was a terrible thing that happened and I too hope no Rats were involved. I really wish no one was involved.:banghead

I was in NANA at the time. The club that burned is one of those that caters to mostly well heeled Asians. There were a few Expats there and I do hope that no Rats were involved. Tragic story for sure but not the first time and probably not the last. Everyone who has been here knows that the places that pack the most folks inside have very little in the way of safety or crowd control. Hundreds of sparklers inside a tender box, how drunk do you have to be to stay inside there? Carelessness and stupidity always a lethal combo. Terrible story. Anyway always remember CYA.

Glad to hear from you both. I am a little antsy in crowded bars and the one's, with only 1 door!! When the crowd begins to begins to get large, I am trying to find my way out.:wtf

At the first sign of trouble I run for cover (cya), its safer that way.

A lot of you know where this place is - ? - your setting at the bar minding your own business, all of a sudden a cannon goes off very loud, you hit the floor, people beging to laugh, so you look outside and see womens bras on the ground and pieces still coming down. Once enough women have donated their bra a guy stuffs them in a cannon - then fires it off.

Take care

Not so funny when you work in places that have indirect fire coming in at you on an almost daily basis. It sucks ass and you know it is the golden bebe that might just get you one day.

if you can't see the humor in the "deer frozen in the headlights " look on the face of the astonished expat as he pulls himself up off the beer soaked floor while the crowd roars with laughter and pieces of lingerie flutter down around his head. Then I think maybe you have been volunteering to work in the line of fire too long and I DO understand that. BUT REALLY, what does that or this, for that matter, have to do with where that bra shooting cannon bar is located??? Or with that fire, although cannons do fire. Nothing, but SO WHAT. say what you want, it's all good. Bunch of lunatics, that's what we are and most of us good at our job's too. No amount of money is worth losing your sense of humor or your ass over.

I too am going to miss your wit and your wisdom around here MEX. I hope your retirement will be as you like it

Where is the "retiring from the site post"? I saw the "retiring" post, but does that mean from here too? Hope not.

OLD DAWG: "...Bunch of lunatics, that's what we are..." to do this line of work. YOU GOT THAT RIGHT. I remember when I first started and someone telling me it takes a special breed of person. As the years passed, I saw just how true that is. From the wackos who were on each and EVERY job, to the guys that were IN COUNTRY only a matter of days to turn around and head home. Hell, the guys in Kwaj even said people didn't get off the plane and left.

OLD DAWG: "...No amount of money is worth losing your sense of humor or your ass over..." That's going RIGHT into my signature. Pearls kid, stand back people, he's giving out pearls. :cheers:rockwoot:
