I'm thinking this might be a little harder to do, but something I have noticed for years that I would like to see happen, is how our travel arrangements go down. This kind of goes along the lines of the "Jumping Through Hoops" thread, but not really.

Right now I'm in London and I can tell you for a FACT that making the flight from Chicago to London in BUSINESS CLASS was way better than in COACH, as I've done several times before.

Now, I know bean counters only see the bottom line, but I would like to thank the company I'm going out for, right off the bat, for having the HEAD on their shoulders to put me in BUSINESS CLASS being as this is a BUSINESS TRIP.

Far to few companies will take that good of care of their men. I've been around a LONG time, not as long as others, but have flown COACH and BUSINESS several times with different companies. I can say without a doubt, that I have not even gotten there yet, and I'm in a better mood than I would have been flying COACH.

However, if this was demanded, as with the roommates issue, would you be willing to give up the 50 cents an hour they would probably need to do it on a regular basis or would you just demand it, being as they bid the job that way?

I do my best up front to ask for business class seating on flights of certain length, to me any trans atlantic or trans pacific should be business class.

The us gov. allows for this as per their rules, and we all know, the contractors bid this in their price. :321

I am not the biggest dog on the block but at 6'2" and 260 lbs. I get pretty cramped up in coach!!!

If you do not ask you sure will not recieve. :blahslap

I just today finished discussion on my next project, :banghead we did settle on business class airline tickets, and a private room, in fact a nice 2 room hotel.

Money is top shelf, so I am off again next week. Northern Turkey. Heavy industry not ambassy work. :321

It is a short term gig, which I like get in, get out, get the money, come home go fishing!

The comfort afforded in business class flying insures that the employee arrives at the job in a vastly improved mental and physical condition over flying in the "cattle section". Do the math. While I would much rather have the company pony up for the airfare , it would be well worth it to deduct .50 per hour to recieve the upgrade. We would be way ahead of the game giving up the half dollar per hour and the company would benefit too. The only problem that I see is trying to educate the bean counters in the concept of giving a little to gain a lot. They just do not seem to be able to get their myopic minds around that principle.I'm thinking this might be a little harder to do, but something I have noticed for years that I would like to see happen, is how our travel arrangements go down. The only concept they understand is "spending a dollar to save a nickel"
