While I was working in Tijuana, Mx., one of the scams was to get a taxi look alike, pick up the foreigners, and take them to a hideaway and hold them hostage while they drain your bank account via your ATM card...a lot of guys keep way too much money in the ATM account. Keep it below $1000.00. Don't think they will get your pin number? When they cut off your toe, you'll tell them anything. Don't be a victim. Travel in groups, watch your surroundings, be aware that you are a visitor in THEIR shit-hole country...keep your mouth shut.

There are a lot of drug people, that culture and lowlife scum that goes with it...and for some reason, there a lot of he-she's, shims, shemales, kutoeys...whatever you wanna call them...IT's:wtf !!! They place has great bullfighting, food, cheap souvenirs...not much else. Like you said, stay out and go south.
