There is a great amount of interest in this year’s presidential elections, as everybody seems to recognize that our next president has to be a lot better than George Bush. The Democrats are riding high with two groundbreaking candidates — a woman and an African-American — while the conservative Republicans are in a quandary about their party’s nod to a quasi-liberal maverick, John McCain.:wtf

Each candidate is carefully pandering to a smörgåsbord of special-interest groups, ranging from gay, lesbian and trans-gender people to children of illegal immigrants to working mothers to evangelical Christians. :banghead

There is one group no one has recognized, and it is the group that will decide the election: the Angry White Man. The Angry White Man comes from all economic backgrounds, from dirt-poor to filthy rich. He represents all geographic areas in America, from urban sophisticate to rural redneck, deep South to mountain West, left Coast to Eastern Seaboard.

His common traits are that he isn’t looking for anything from anyone — just the promise to be able to make his own way on a level playing field. In many cases, he is an independent businessman and employs several people. He pays more than his share of taxes and works hard.

The victim-hood syndrome buzzwords — “disenfranchised,” “marginalized” and “voiceless” — don’t resonate with him. “Press ‘one’ for English” is a curse-word to him. He’s used to picking up the tab, whether it’s the company Christmas party, three sets of braces, three college educations or a beautiful wedding.

He believes the Constitution is to be interpreted literally, not as a “living document” open to the whims and vagaries of a panel of judges who have never worked an honest day in their lives.

The Angry White Man owns firearms, and he’s willing to pick up a gun to defend his home and his country. He is willing to lay down his life to defend the freedom and safety of others, and the thought of killing someone who needs killing really doesn’t bother him.:rockwoot:

The Angry White Man is not a metrosexual, a homosexual or a victim. Nobody like him drowned in Hurricane Katrina — he got his people together and got the hell out, then went back in to rescue those too helpless and stupid to help themselves, often as a police officer, a National Guard soldier or a volunteer firefighter.

His last name and religion don’t matter. His background might be Italian, English, Polish, German, Slavic, Irish, or Russian, and he might have Cherokee, Mexican, or Puerto Rican mixed in, but he considers himself a white American.

He’s a man’s man, the kind of guy who likes to play poker, watch football, hunt white-tailed deer, call turkeys, play golf, spend a few bucks at a strip club once in a blue moon, change his own oil and build things. He coaches baseball, soccer and football teams and doesn’t ask for a penny. He’s the kind of guy who can put an addition on his house with a couple of friends, drill an oil well, weld a new bumper for his truck, design a factory and publish books. He can fill a train with 100,000 tons of coal and get it to the power plant on time so that you keep the lights on and never know what it took to flip that light switch.

Women either love him or hate him, but they know he’s a man, not a dishrag. If they’re looking for someone to walk all over, they’ve got the wrong guy. He stands up straight, opens doors for women and says “Yes, sir” and “No, ma’am.”

He might be a Republican and he might be a Democrat; he might be a Libertarian or a Green. He knows that his wife is more emotional than rational, and he guides the family in a rational manner.

He’s not a racist, but he is annoyed and disappointed when people of certain backgrounds exhibit behavior that typifies the worst stereotypes of their race. He’s willing to give everybody a fair chance if they work hard, play by the rules and learn English.

Most important, the Angry White Man is pissed off. When his job site becomes flooded with illegal workers who don’t pay taxes and his wages drop like a stone, he gets righteously angry. When his job gets shipped overseas, and he has to speak to some incomprehensible idiot in India for tech support, he simmers. When Al Sharpton comes on TV, leading some rally for reparations for slavery or some such nonsense, he bites his tongue and he remembers. When a child gets charged with carrying a concealed weapon for mistakenly bringing a penknife to school, he takes note of who the local idiots are in education and law enforcement.

He also votes, and the Angry White Man loathes Hillary Clinton. Her voice reminds him of a shovel scraping a rock. He recoils at the mere sight of her on television. Her very image disgusts him, and he cannot fathom why anyone would want her as their leader. It’s not that she is a woman. It’s that she is who she is. It’s the liberal victim groups she panders to, the “poor me” attitude that she represents, her inability to give a straight answer to an honest question, his tax dollars that she wants to give to people who refuse to do anything for themselves.:fauches:

There are many millions of Angry White Men. Four million Angry White Men are members of the National Rifle Association, and all of them will vote against Hillary Clinton, just as the great majority of them voted for George Bush.

He hopes that she will be the Democratic nominee for president in 2008, and he will make sure that she gets beaten like a drum.:sport002:

I believe what we need to concern ourself with at this time is keeping Clintons democratic opponent out of the office. International politics are important to all of us, but the majority of angry white men "need to work and make a living ", that should be of first concern.
How can anyone say outloud the full name of Obama without thinking of all the deaths in Iraq, caused by his name sake....!!!!:wtf
Believe me I am not and never have been a fan of the Clintons, but give their 8 years in office credit where its due, a balanced budget**** unheard of. At this point in time we ow China and Japan unbelievable amounts of money for borrowed funds to keep the Iraq / Afghanistan wars going.
Angry white men - have come to the point we believe, even women should have the right to vote and run for office, even the red neck angry white man, have yeilded to this.
Mega watt - are you still a voting american? Are a non tax paying resident
of Thailand? Just curious. I know several guys full time residents of other countrys just to exscape the us income tax.:blahslap

Juat a few polite comments on the above.

Yes Mexfish I do live in Thailand but not for Tax reasons. I was one of many that happened to land in Oakland California in 1970 and got spit at and called a baby killer. :wtf Yes I was in the military and proud of it. So as soon as I got out of the military I moved to Thailand thanks to People just exactly like Hilliary Fricken Clinton. The only first lady to announce that if she was president she would disband the military, there is no need for it any more. Yes those words came out of her mouth!!!!:banghead
Personally I believe there should be one more choice in the voting booth **none of the above start over**
Yes I have houses in the USA and do go back from time to time just to be told by the same people that vote for the Clinton's that I cant paint my house that color, or the association will take my house away from me.:wtf The USA is way out of control, I want government out of my business NOW.
Yes I am a Angry white American living in Thailand, and proud of it and I will vote against the Clinton's again and again and again they are distroying our country from the inside out. :sport002:

MY HAT IS OFF TO YOU AND THE OTHERS THAT HAVE BEEN IN THAT SITUATION. Even though in 1970 I was just entering High School I to remember those days after and during the Viet Nam War.I do understand why you have a reason to be VERY ANGRY at this country, but---I feel that you still LOVE HER TOO!!!! I know that I am really different from your adverage joe--but who isn't different in their own ways!! You know when I went to work on the EMBASSY in China, I went over with PRIDE in my Heart to be apart of it, and will go to the next one with the same idea.Yes we have our Faults and problems here--BUT as you well know it is the GRANDEST LAND AND ,I HOPE WE CAN KEEP IT THAT WAY. I do hope that as people go to the VOTING BOOTHS this time that they will WEIGH OUT THE iSSUES WE ARE FACED WITH. I AM HEARING MORE AND MORE,SOMETHING VERY ALARMING TO ME--AND THAT IS GUN CONTROL!!!i GUESS THEY DON'T UNDERSTAND IF THEY WOULD JUST USE THE LAWS THEY HAVE IN EFFECT THEY WOULDN'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT. Anyway hope you have a GREAT DAY there, and again THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE TO THIS COUNTRY.

Maga Watt - I think we agree on most things we only differ on the way to a solution!!!!!!!!!

paintermike - hang in there buddy, your opinion is as important as anyone else's.

I remember the early days of the viet nam mess, from the first advisors sent there in the late 50s on thru the 70s and to with drawal. It was not men like myself that turned their back on our vets it was lazy, un-controlled, non working white college kids, backed by support of people like Jane Fonda and others of her elk.:wtf

The mess over the war and returning veterans started in UC Berkly,CA. early 60s, annnnndddd, I was working construction days and trying to go to school there at night. I was a navy vet. when I started to school there and was very unhappy with the actions of the out of controll spoiled kids, using daddy;s money to protest again our own people.:fauches:

No problem with me guys I will be happy to buy the next couple of rounds even if all we have is EKA.

Sense when is it a crime to express my opinion?? I am not bashing any other race.:banghead
That really pisses me off, show me anywhere in my letter where I have just one racist remark. Political bashing yes, if that is being a racist then I am guilty.
Is it being a racist expressing black or Hispanic opinions?? It's all over CNN every day.
I as a simple white American I am pissed at illegal immigrants, Jobs going over seas, the piss poor choice of political candidates, The way someone jumps up and calls me a racist just becouse I say I am white?????:wtf What is wrong with being white, is that a dirty word now too?? I fought for the right to express my opinion, and I know many more on this site have too.
I don't like Liberals controlling my every move.
Political correctness.:wtf
Anger management in the military??? Stress cards :nono:
Where the heck are we heading when someone can't express their own opinion.:blahslap
And you all wonder why I moved to Thailand in 1979 after 20 years of service just to get away from this kind of thinking. Thank you.

Haven't had any caffeine in years, now you know why. Any racist remarks will not be allowed.
Everyone that knows me, (and there is quite a few on this site) know what I am talking about and I feel very strongly about these things.
In fact this same letter was published in the NY times the other day just wanted to share with my brothers.:moon
Personally I believe there should be one more choice in the voting booth **none of the above start over**
I have lived a long time and have seen the best man has to offer and the worst, and it has nothing to do with race, but it has it all to do with Governments and their Politics!!! Genocide is caused by governments, Politicians put rouge rulers in place to forward there own objectives. That is what I am against. Things I have seen and done for god and country should never happen, ever again.
The Clinton's, Carters and everyone like them should stay out of politics. The damage they have done to this country will never be undone.:2cents
OK I am off my soap box Mexfish you are next. If I could drink a bottle of Scotch right now I would, it will have to wait till I get home to Thailand. :rockwoot:

:bigbeer Jus to let yo kno I agree wif yo 100%. I think everything that you hav said should describe the AMERICAN MALE, whether WHITE, BLACK , BROWN whatever color. I have Friends and people that I deal with that can fit any color and I don't see the color. I do thinkl that the Truth most of the times hurt. INFACT I hav been messed around by more White people than anybody. I too am kind of confused as to the fact that I am workin here in Stillwater Okla where I worked in 1987 and am makin $3.50 cents less an hr. We have 15 hispanics and 5 what you would call whites. Now is this why wages are low?? Maybe not. Anyway I think we all kno what Megga Watt said was not Racist but the HONEST TO GOD TRUTH!!! I do agree though that I am alittle bit REDNECK, and sometimes am alittle bit more blunt, than maybe I should be, but sometimes the TRUTH HURTS.

Where the heck are we heading when someone can't express their own opinion.:blahslap
And you all wonder why I moved to Thailand in 1979 after 20 years of service just to get away from this kind of thinking. Thank you.

Megga Watt, I think the headrat is just concerned that some people might construe the post as somewhat racist. I don't think he is suggesting that you meant it to be racist. If this forum was a politically correct one (thank God it isn't), that post would have probably been moderated out.

who ever is elected has to be better than what we have now
Bush continues to lies what has he done except spend money we do not have
send jobs overseas. Incress the price of gas by over $1.00 a gallion
Send men and women to fight for what?
This years budget is over 3 trillion and know social scurity is going under
He once said it would be better if he was king
I thought we got rid of king George
Well, you could thank Bush for creating all those jobs in Iraq and Afghanistan for us.

Mega, I agree with the angry "White Man Idea" but, it is not limited to nor all inclusive to just the white man. This idea does encompass all Legal Americans that work and work hard for themselves and their families. As a nation we need and should want the best canidate in The White House to lead our nation, as a world power; financially, economically, militarily and morally. This is what AMERICA NEEDS, not all of the BULL CRAP and RHETORIC of the news media and people's pet pives, prejudices and irrational ideas.

Yes I agree, it is not limited to any one individual background. :doh I don't even like to call it race, you always get a adverse reaction.
One of my many points in that article is how over sensitive everyone has become by the reactions I get. I could have said I am a angry Martian and the race comment would have come up sooner than later.:wtf I am not a politician nor do I want to be, but I believe we should reset and go back to the basics of the original Constitution and the exact intent. A government for the people by the people, not a bunch of greedy politician's. :nono:

First off, Mr. Megga Watt thank you for your service to our country and to all veterans who have served. I agree there should be one more choice” none of the above”. I also live overseas and have since 1991 for the same reasons….The USA is out of control… A guy defends himself in a fight and kills the guy trying to kill him and he gets life in prison…the guy that shot Reagan gets weekend passes (he’s been rehabilitated) My ass… Our system was once great but it has been violated by Politicians and Corporate America to the point it does not work for us, but for them. There are too many things to mention here that needs to change in the ol’ Homeland. Yall remember English, Pledge of Allegiance and that guy named God? Megga Watt could not have put it better…

I am Angry, I am White, I am American…..I am Shanebo

Heres to the men and women in our military, past and present:cheers :cheers

I think what gets most people going is to be labelled. Once they are labelled, they seem to take offense when another labelled group makes a comment about their group that they don't like.
Ridiculous. It sounds even funnier if you think about it.
I believe that it really doesn't matter if you are conservative or a liberal, as both idealisms have qualities to be admired and traits to be despised. It takes two to Tango. I prefer the idealism of bi-partisianism, where I consider the qualities of both the right and left, and consider the character flaws of the right, and the left. The Clintons were not saints, but neither is GW Bush, and the same can be said for every man and woman we have in elected office today, and yesterday for that matter. What seperates us from the other countries and their politicians' and their political machinisms is that when we are not happy with who we have in office, we elect another, because of our constitutiion.
We do have our flaws also, like the electoral college, and the terms in relation to time that some of these leaders maintain their office.
The fact that the constitution needs to be changed, or ammended from time to time because the way we live our lives changes with the times. The founding fathers knew this, so they made it easy to change...because they understood that the document was not perfect. It would be impossible to go back, we have come too far. All we can do is right the wrongs from time to time. I do not believe that because someone is against this war, that they are unpatriotic. You can still support the troops, but disagree with the war. Patriotism has no relevance as to skin color, or sexual orientation for that matter. I do not believe that any group has more going against it through history than the Native Americans...talk about getting a bad deal...but because my Grandparents came over to the States in the 40's, doesn't exclude me from trying to ammend the damage done. It would only make us a better Nation...we should definitely fix what's wrong over here, before we worry about whether or not the lady in the burka in some sand pit in the middle east can read!
Many people blame the decay of "family values" on handguns, some say video games, and others say the internet, others say the lack of God in our daily lives. Who knows, it seems to be a combination of everything. All I can do is kiss my children before they go to sleep in the gentle haze of their Donald Duck light, and pray that some idiot doesn't try to blow us up...and also to try my best to do the right thing...regardless of how I think politically messed up this country is. We are fortunate to be able to say...Man, this country is messed up, and I think that guy or gal in office is a yahoo. Try saying that in China, or Cuba, or Russia, for that matter. You'd never be seen again. This website would never exist, either for that matter. In most countries, the construction worker is a third class citizen, and most are very poor...my kids will be able to read, have a roof over their heads, clothes on their backs...and granted, when they grow up they might not like the old man and his lifestyle...but they'll be free to choose that, because of the good things about the right, and the left.:cheers
And I agree with the "none of the above, start over"...this crop looks like it went bad long ago.

Beautiful response WR, you are the most eloquent writer on this site. I wish I had your talent.:banghead
What I am worried about is the continuous erosion of our rights, and privacy.
They keep whittling away at gun laws trying this and pushing that, and one day they will slip something in on a bill that must go through without a line item veto. Or some lobbyist getting yet another insurance bill passed stating that if you get sick they don't have to pay a dime.:kib:
Of coarse I am exaggerating but it is possible with the current lack of control of these politician's that are suppose to be working for us, not for their own personal gain. I don't believe they should have a parachute retirement plan and free medical for the rest of their life. They should have to live, die, and suffer the same way we have to, without exception. Then life would get better for everyone. I don't believe in big government controlling us, but do believe in the common man or woman controlling government.
No it's not perfect and has a long way to go, we as a people need to get our collective heads out of the sand and get more involved.
I elect Wild Rover for President :rockwoot:

In 1970 I was only 5 years old, but old enough to remember Howard K. Smith on the nightly news reporting how many Americans had been killed that day. I had two uncles that served in Viet Nam, one was Army, it only took 11 years for the agent orange to kill him. The other was Navy, he carried 55 gallon barrels of that shit up river. He still feels guilt over that. MW, If we should ever meet, I want to shake your hand. I do appreciate you, and ALL that have served and sacrificed.
