Ok guys...I'm an FNG. I've got no idea where to begin with this overseas thing. I'm interested but I've got no intentions of signing blind. What do I REALLY need to know going into this? What is the average pay scale for a well trained rigger/journeyman millwright in industrial maint. with 10yrs. in a steel mill? I've heard some pretty incredible pay figures, but everywhere I look there really isn't much info to be offered. What pitfalls should I be looking out for? Thanks in advance!!

Hey Chris, I lived in Dayton Ohio for a long while. You will see many posts on this site covering pretty much what you are asking here. My input is that you negotiate the best deal you can and then stick by what you agreed to. I have seen jobs promising $104,000 per year in Iraq, only to see they are paying you $18 per hour outside of the country and then $38 per hour when in country (this includes all the uplifts) and the work schedule is 12 hours a day 7 days a week, so I passed. Anyway best of luck.

Welcome aboard, we ask our folks on this site to ask for us$30 per hour worked, plus per diem. If you are working 60 hrs a week thats 1800.00 per week are 97,600 a year. War zone pay is about 1&1/2 times that figure.
It is really up to you to negoatiate the pay, the per diem is a real life saver when your per diem pays your way the wage check is in the bank!!!:rockwoot:
Pay aside the view in some countrys is great.
Take Care
Mexfishguide:cheers
The Fish is right!!! Go for the $$$$ but remember that some gigs in kool countrys are great!!! I want $30 + per-diem but would do less for a great gig in say " Canery Islands" :rockwoot: but I would not go for under 80G a year.
OK maybe, they have nude beachs and cold beer:lol: :cheers Stay tight and if you get an offer ck with the guys here!! they will not lead you wrong!!

From my experience.most contracts are made to be broken.. most jobs say one thing and do another (and dare you to mix the pot up).. u have to get ur feet wet..u might end up on a bad one..but stick it out till another one comes along.. its all 12/7 or 12/6(same thing) if you want some change$$$
If you want less than 70k then you can get a few days off or short weeks..its all your choice..
.. my last gig was 92 hrs/wk..but i am a six figure man;)
get a job where ur on your butt most of the time..or you might regret it.. 84hrs is alot if they want you to hump in the heat..with the TCN's... I know of a few gigs that might work for you.. email me. mikemacmoney@gmail.com
