I did finally get a confirmation from Hensel - Phelps ( HP ).

They will not be bidding any more OBO work.:wtf

One of the reasons that Hensel Phelps has pulled out, I believe, is that they were partners with First Kuwaiti, Hensel Phelps with the American owned portion of the New Embassy contract requirements, First Kuwaiti being the money, and cheap labor. How much do you think Fist Kuwaiti made on that NOB in Iraq? How far would you want to distance yourself from that mess???
I went to an OBO Small Business seminar in DC, and the rep. from HP gave a speech about how to go about getting involved in the OBO overseas work, and how HP was going to usher in a new era for the construction of these buildings.
I bet he's pretty close to retirement now....:lol:

I would say he spoke out of turn!

One more of our great big time contractors, deciding we have folks, that build commercial building all over the states. So with our vast amount of experience we will man the project in house?????????

We know it is just a big building or buildings, but we all so know, so many OBO folks have their own way of wanting things done. You need experienced people to lead the way.

So we are loosing contractors as we go along, HP, Zachry, Fluor, the firms left are going to beat us up pretty bad on wages if we do not stick together.
