Got this from a member looking for help. Knowing what it's like to try and find anyone at OBO to contact in anything, I'm wondering if anyone has some advise because I'm thinking he would have to send it to DISCO.

Headrat,

Its a coincidence your articles on clearances.
I was wondering if you or any of the members know how
appeal my tss? I have a secret clearance. I was to go to China
to work however I did not get the upgrade to a top secret clearance.
It took me over a year to find out it was my credit.

They basically told me if I can show proof that i am taking care of the
bills and I have to write an appeal, its possible that I could get it.

So do you or any members know how to write good appeals?

I would appreciate a reply.

Thank you,

Hew should talk with his security officer at his work. They can help him get squared away as they know the ins and outs of the clearance world. Might also help to speak with the investigator.

You cannot contact DISCO directly, but must work thru the company that was sponsoring your TS upgrade. DISCO should have sent to the sponsoring company a document with a detailed listing of the reasons for your denial. In turn, the sponsoring company should have sent it to you so you could respond to DISCO within the given timeframe noted on the letter of denial. That would have been your appeal - your response to that denial letter. The timeframe for response is usually pretty short - about 2 or 3 weeks after receipt of the denial letter.

I hope that helps. You need to contact the sponsoring company.

Yeah I was trying to stress that he should contact the security officer at his job that handles it for his company. Or talk to the investigator who interviewed you for your clearance.

Actually, after hearing it 9000 times on a job from one guy once, and believe me, RatBro can vouche for me on the 9000 times, you CAN contact DISCO directly and use the Freedom of Information Act to find out what is going on with it. At the very least, to find out if it has been dropped, etc.
