I was granted an interim secret in January 2004, it was finally adjudicated this past December. What problems are you having, it seems to be taking longer then what was expected, but they come through. A lot depends on how easily they can trace your residences, etc. Have you security manager sent in a form requesting information, other then that not much you can do.

my interim never went to full investigation and therefore was never adjudicated. i am now in the process of reapplying. how long will it take and what the results will be?

You first need to be employed by someone who needs you to have a clearance. They will sponser this for you. This is the only way. You can't just apply for one on your own just because you want one. Once this happens, you must stay employed with a company that will sponser this clearance until they can do the investigation and make it "real". Usually, if a company lays you off the investigation will stop and your next employer will pick it up. Then the investigation will start where it left off with the previous employer. It took a full year for mine to come through. Hang in there.:cheers

I know I'm late here, but I have the same problem now. I was denied an interim clearance and I cannot find out why that is. Any address, e-mail or such to contact to find out the reason? Thanks.

First of all, to get a clearance you have to be sponsored by a compnay that has the same are higher clearance then you are applying for. If you are certain the firm sent in the application, are not certain if they did. Start with asking the subject firm? If they did indeed send in the application, they can inform you of the progress of the application. You must know for sure if it was sent in are did the firm hold it back? My last information on an interim is some what cloudy - if you are working on an interm are regular clearance and leave that firm - some new firm must pick up the pieces, to continue. Some information is you can only work with the firm that applied for your interm.
Justus are Rover probably have more current information then I.

First you must determine who conducted your investigation. The Defense Security Service (DSS) and the
Office of Personnel Management (OPM) have conducted ninety percent of all clearance investigations over
the past 35 years.
For OPM investigations mail or fax a request with your hand written signature to:
FOI/P, OPM-FIPC
P.O. Box 618
1137 Branchton Road
Boyers, PA 16018-0618
FAX: 724-794-4590
Include the following information in your request:
• Full name
• Social Security Number
• Date of birth
• Place of birth
• Current home address (a Post Office Box is not acceptable; the records are sent by
certified mail and require your signature).
For DSS investigations mail a written request with your original notarized signature to:
Defense Security Service
Privacy Act Branch
938 Elkridge Landing Road
Linthicum, MD 21090-2917
Include the following information in your request:
• Full current name
• Any other names you may have used in the past
• Date of Birth
• Social Security Number
• A brief description of the records you are seeking
• Any other information that you believe may be useful in searching for records pertaining to
you
Additionally, due to the transfer of the personnel security investigations function to OPM on February 20,
2005, any requests for DSS investigations completed after February 20, 2005 should be mailed to the OPM.
DSS only maintains those personnel security investigations completed by DSS prior to the February 20,
2005, transfer.

Wild Rover, I didn't thank you for the information you posted above,, so thank you. I intend to write both addresses in the next day or so to see what's up. My oldest son just got his secret clearance after 218 days after he too was denied an interim clearance. He is about to deploy with Triple Canopy. I will let the members know what becomes of the letters I am going to send, and I will send it to both places you sent us. Thanks again Wild Rover

I know 2 or 3 people that got kicked out of the process fast because they had filed bankruptcy. How is your credit? Please check Free Credit Report.communist....I mean check out your credit rating somehow. It seems to bounce pretty quickly because that is probably the first thing they look at.:banghead

Thanks, I will let the gang know if it is in fact THE reason, and anything else if and when I get a response to my question of the interim.

My interim had been denied but they never gave me a reason. It took about 2 more years for the regular adjudication to come through.
