I was talking with a Friend the last week or so, and a friend of mine's name came up. I had not seen him in such a long time, so I asked if he saw or heard from him. Well, what he said was that Robert tripped in Managua, Niceragua while working and twisted his knee. Upon inspection at the medical facilitie, they noticed some irregularities there, and suggested he head back home to check it out.
Anyhow, to make a long story short, I e-mailed Robert Fairley last week to ask how he was, and here is his response. I know Ratbro just e-mailed me a similar response, so it was hard for me to read this, seeing my friend in pain...
From Robert to me:
Hey, It was great to hear from you. Sorry we
haven't keep intouch much,Yes it's true It's not
looking to good. I have Lung Cancer and tumors all
over my body, The worst one is on my pelvis. It's
eating away at my pelvis on the right side and it's so
big to where I can't use my leg as of now. I started
Radition treatment last week to srink it. The Doctor
I'm seeing said I have a 25% chance of making it. That
took me and my wife to our knees I had no ideal it was
that bad. My wife called M.D. Andersons (in houston
texas)last week and talked to them, I heard they were
the best in the U.S. they said they would see me after
the radition treatments they didn't want to stop what
was going on,So I'll be going to houston on the 24th
of this month..
If you don't mind let all the friends that me and you
know what going on with my health, It's hard for me
right now to talk about it.You and one other person
knows about this that I know of.. There is one thing
you could for me,Keep me in your Prayers.....
Thanks for your concern and I know your a Good Friend.
I'll try to keep intouch and let you know whats going
on..
Robert
Well, as you can imagine, Robert is in dire straights...I would like to do something for Robert, as every little bit counts. A collection, a card. something to let him know we in the overseas working community care, and we care for our own.
TheJester Add the link to this post as well. Give what you can, cause it could be YOU looking for help some day. We take care of our own:

We have already lost 2 members from our community to that Damn Cancer, from that one particular project, and I cannot stand the thought of loosing another.

I have heard many different stories about Robert around the world and that he was a good egg. This will not stand, and we are moving to do something right now.

MD Anderson is one of the best cancer treatment/research facilities around, also Vanderbuilt in Nashville is great too. I've seen and read about Cancer Centers of America, they do some radical treatments. Best of luck going through this.

This is some serious stuff,
A true friend and Loyal American that never shamed us, or was labeled as the " Ugly American".
I still have one of the shirts he gave me from " Off of his Back "
The other one is tacked to the wall.

I'm shocked, I am truly shocked and brought to tears to think he only has a 25% chance. Is he on this site? If he isn't he should be, cause he'd be a wealth of information, humor, and it would give him something to do with his down time, as I'm sure sitting around is not his thing.
I know when I lost my daughter, you Rats came to help me, so please do the same for Robert.

He was listed on the site before as a member,
let me check his credit, if it has gone out, I will personally COMP him.
Yeah, he will need something to do with his time, and hearing all the good words will boost his spirits. :cheers
Man........I'm shocked, and heartbroken! Robert's a good guy, good welder, we had some good times on Kwaj, and in Moscow. My thoughts are with ya, brother!

Received from KSTEELO:
This is the website you guys need to check out. http://www.ozonegenerator.com/
It's quite comprehensive. The prices on the equipment looks like it's sent via e mail.info@ozonegenerator.com . Even if he decides to go with chemo , he should consider this method of treatment to prevent remission.
I'm going to look into this stuff while Im still healthy.
Tell the guy to look into Oxygen Healing Therapies. http://www.oxygenhealingtherapies.com/oxygen_chamber_therapy.html
Im working with a fellow here on the Panama US Embassy project who has skin cancer and he's using a different variation of the treatment that resembles a sleeping bag. He says that its working.

This is what he used when he got burned in the Pepsi commerical shoot to regenerate his skin that was burned. Also I'm a cancer survivor and know first hand about the effects of chemo and the importance to keep your spirit up.

From Roberts wife Donna
I just wanted to let you know that Robert is doing great. He was in surgery yesterday (Aug.23) from 7:00 to 3:15. They did remove the tumor (size of musched orange), rebuilt pelvis and replaced the hip. The Drs. seem to think that in about a month that he will be able to do his normal activities. Today (Aug. 24) they got him up and he was able to walk a very good distance. He was only to get out of bed and into the chair but if you know Robert like I do, he is very much a fighter and we are not going to let this (cancer) get the best of us. :rockwoot: Robert thinks the alot of each and everyone of you, I know because he talks alot about you all. It is good to know that he has such good friends. I will try to keep you updated but I only come to the hotel to get cleaned up so I don't leave him for to long. Thanks again for all the support and prayers.

Robert and Donna.
Keep fighting. This is a hello from the electrical crew that worked the NOB in Managua with him. Cantankerous yes! But a hell of a worker that knows his trade. We are praying for you both.
If we can do anything, you have but to ask.

I worked with Robert in Managua. He’s definitely one of the great ones I’ve worked with. I noticed that Robert was walking with a slight limp and I had a club car I used to drive (when it wasn’t stolen by that damn GuitarTexan) and I’d always try to give him a ride. Roberts the kind of guy who’d do anything for you. I hate to see him in this situation. Keep fighting buddy.
