Got an interesting question from a member that I wanted you all to get a chance to give some advice to:

From Member:
Just so you know....I was asked to initiate clearance (fill-out the on-line forms) by a contractor and have been sitting on my hands for 2 months now waitng for someone to visit, e-mail, phone, I don't care what. How long do these things usually take? I have the patience of a bird at a worm hole, but I'm down to my last few boxes of mac and cheese, and hate to refuse work thru the local much longer as it is all on the road, and feel I need to be here at home when the background folks finally show-up. I took-off to afg. last time this happened, and missed my chance to get clrnce. I don't want to miss this chance.

Any wisdom?

Be sure to tell this contractor where you will be and how to get in touch w/ you. DO NOT sit at home and wait, as it may take quite some time to complete this process:fauches: . You must make a living. Go back to work, and let them know how to get in touch w/ you and it will happen. I was in Albania when I had my interview. They made arraingments with the RSO at the American Ebassy there and he gave me the interview. Good luck!

It took quite some time between the time I applied for mine and when it was adjudicated. Even when I came back to the states it seemed a long process. The last company I worked for ried to have me redo my paper work and resubmit it, those who worked on the clearance told them I couldn't as my paperwork was in and being reviewed, finally I was told it was adjudicated late last year. Hang in there, I'm not sure why you want to be there when they interview your neighbors and such.
