I have been contacted by a company in Va that wants to add Poly Graph to my clearance. I am aware that this will open up new opportunities, and would like some feed back on what I should expect.
All response will be appreciated.:rockwoot:

I guess I would tell them everything up front, I'm sure they will ask you questions before you go in. Unless you are a compulsive liar (or an attorney) I don't know of any way to beat the system. Honesty is always the best policy. If you are straight with them up front then I'm sure it will go easier for you. And just so you know everyone has things in their past that they are not proud of, they probably will want to know these things to make sure they can't harm you or the US in the future.

Tinner D-
You may want to ask the company in Va. "What type Poly will you be asking me to take"??
Basically speaking and without going into detail here, there are generally 2 types of Poly- 1) a FULL SCOPE Poly or 2) Life Style Poly so I again would suggest to you that you ask which poly is being required as 1 type delves "deeper" than the other.
Yes, honesty is the best policy.
It sounds like a BLAST to me, a chance to get some stuff off your chest to a captive audience. Think of it like free therapy. I hope I get that chance some day to 'fess up to all the dumb shit I've done through the years.
BTW, Headrat, loved your initial response. Sounds like one of TheJesters replies.

Yeah your right, it doesn't sound very appealing, but I guess if a guy wants to move up with his clearance, thats a sacrifice he has to make. The opportunities could be far more numerous. After working in Beijing, I realized any dipshit can get a clearance, but to pass a poly is a whole different ballgame. The test doesn't tell whether you are lying or not, it just measures changes in your body in response to questions.
I took one for the mysterious Nevada job. It wasn't too bad, they just askes a bunch of "General" questions for them to determine if you're a threat to our country. As long as you tell the truth, you're in good hands. Where I messed up....they have to keep calibrating the machine for every "section" of questions, so they tell you at a certain point to "lie to this next question" (so they can see what the machine does when you lie) Well....you get in the normal process of telling the truth, I just did everything truthfully. They kept having to go back, and re-calibrate all the time! They didn't help matters anything by keep saying "just be calm, and everything will be alright" Well....as soon as they say that, you naturally get nervous ! :2cents
