News is that Haliburton is moving their corporate offices to Dubai, but will be splitting off KBR which will remain headquartered in Houston. Anyone expect to see any changes in the overseas enviroment as far as work goes?

I'm not sure how things are going to be affected, all I know is I'm calling B.S.

Halliburton didn't have it good enough getting billions upon BILLIONS of dollars on no-bid contracts, etc, now they're going to layoff a bunch of hard working Americans and hire cheap labor in Dubai, and then make off with billions more in tax breaks!

To hell with Halliburton.

Now it looks like they can screw the government and do it without paying any taxes. Scum buckets.

If it is infact true, about the move, it would be a 2 edged sword for them.. I would be surprised to the degree that being as a high profile company that they are and leaving....to go abroad. It would be wise for them and unwise at the same time.
It would be unwise because there is a large base of employees (however, its business and they could ultimately care-less), its high profile connection to the current Administration, it would naturally draw attention to companies moving offshore for advantageous pursuits...
It would be wise because the US dollar stinks and is going to continue to stink. Moving offshore would allow them to distance themselves from the depreciation in a number of ways. Dubai has the second largest free trade zone in the world, no income tax and I'm unsure if they even have a coporate tax.
It is a number of things to consider. Quite interesting.

I've read several items and they all say they are relocating their headquarters. Hillary Clinton has come out against them on this move, haven't read where anyone else has an opinion or not.

Anyone expect to see any changes in the overseas enviroment as far as work goes? I highly doubt there will be a change. Halliburton/KBR are both so wrapped up in Iraq and Afghanistan, making money hand over fist, that unless you plan on going there, you won't see a difference.

I worked for them 2 times in 10 years
they cheat everbody US goverment and tax payer Army and what ever country they are in. They have set up a company in Dubi and if you go
to Houston and are hired your employer is not KBR but a company out of Dubi
they do this so they do not have to pay the per deim. Per deim in only on the first 40 hours. 7 12 take home is about 1200 if you are a construction worker with a trade.

OK can someone clear this up for me. Which one is the Government Services and which is the Oil? I have friends in Nigeria working their LNG but I don't know who they will be under when the split happens. I know i don't want to go to Iraq, but working with the oil division might be a good idea.

I think that Haliburton is more an umbrela company which has all the above. KBR is a subciery of Haliburton that does the government services (Iraq & Afganistan) which will be spun off and remain headquartered in the United States
