i'm pretty new to this whole deal.... but, i was wonderin if someone could help me out a little with security levels, and how to get them.
i have a secret from the navy, but i'm seeing a lot of jobs calling for a ts, and a ts w/ sci. what's the sci? any way of getting a ts on your own? how do you get a sci?
basically, if you only have a secret, but would like to become "more valuable," how can you do it yourself?

from my understanding you can only have a clearance for what is required for the job you are working on. Once you aren't working at that level for six months you go into the system where you can be picked up within the six months, beyound that it may take a reissueance and then more involved paper work for up to two years if you are using your clearance. If you have a secret level and want a TS with or with out all the other more extensive background checks (poly etc), you can usually be granted a interim ts. however unless you require one for the project you most likely won't get one. Zachry requires ts for Beijing and you could get yours with them if hired for that project. I know there was a thread that pretty well listed what was required, maybe you could look for that post, good luck :cheers
