... former Fluor employee with close upper management contacts:

Subject: Fluor finds it's scapegoat

Fluor's inability to properly manage hard-money OBO jobs (many know the particular projects) manifested the week before last when Mike Gywn was....well, he is no longer with the company.

Many of you may not know Mike but I'll tell you this--I'd go to work for him again any time, any place. I know Mike will land on his feet and go on to something better than Fluor. I wish him all the luck in the world.

I've also heard figures of the losses on Astana and Kingston and they are staggering. Example--Astana is estimated to be over $80M LOSS! It was only a $50M-some bid. Fluor ran these jobs just like they do their cost-plus ones, loaded to the gills with office expats and no one knowing anything about embassy constructions. When they saw they were so far in the whole THEN they turn it over to JAJ. All JAJ could to was to TRY to slow down the bleeding, no way in hell to stop it as the damage had been done.

It's a damn shame Fluor had to axe someone from JAJ when it really should have been some higher-up within Fluor who let the shit happen from the start.

Guess you can tell I'm pissed about this. I'm about being fair and this is just not fair.
Thanks--

:cheers HR, I agree with you about Mike, he was all ways a straght shooter with me.

He is one of the only men that ever told me, do the job the way it should be, if we have a container are 2 of left over materials / tools, do not worry about it, get the job done.

They should have fired the people at floor that bid the job !!!!they then bought jones and turned the astana project over to them, I was there.

The money left on the table by fluor was horrible. Then they sent fluor people to the site that had no idea how to build an embassy overseas, I was very upset over this one.

Raw deal for Mike.

Take care

Yeah, I agree....
I've worked and sub-ed out for Mike's company, with him at the helm, doing what I do, for several years. Good things come to those who wait. He will wind up smelling like roses. I am sorry about his shortcomings...but we all may someday be working for him, he is that good...I would hate to be on his bad side. He was always a class guy to work for, and a straight shooter...I would work for him anytime. I bet he gets picked up soon...by another company...someone with his talent won't sit for long...

I agree with Mex and WR, Mike is as good a guy as they come. Both to work for and for a company. He gave me a chance when I was still green and I'll always appreciate him. I never saw him being unfair with anyone--even when he was getting the short end of the stick.

Yes he will end up with someone and it will be better than that Fluor crowd. I just hope he has my email or phone number because I'd go with him.
