Man, I've been hanging out at that butcher shop every night since watching this hoping to hook up with that chick. Smokin' hot. The burka really does it for me. As for the beer, 28 days, 33 cases amongst the three of you... my guess is by week two you'll be hording the remaining few cases and guarding them with your lives. Or, if your stock holds up, Villa One will raid and pillage the place once we run dry. Either way it's going to be interesting.

Ramadon starts tomorrow, and it's not about the villa's, as always, it's about the alcohol.

Villa #2 has 36 Cases of Stella !
And a sniper rifle 4 nights a week. You really did not think WE got a personal Taxi JUST to carry us ????
Still thinking about pillaging , Comrads ???
:AR15 :moon
If we burn through our stashes in a fast enough manner, it might still seem like a really good idea. But we'd probably be too ripped to find the place. Day one of Ramadan, so far alcohol supplies are holding up according to schedule. We'll keep everybody posted. Poker night got pushed to tomorrow night to accomodate the two SOB's going to Istanbul on Tuesday, we'll see what kind of affect that has on the reserves and our willingness to make a run at the Holiest Shrine that is 36 cases of Stella. Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!:rockwoot:
:cheers To Ramadan. At least traffic's not as bad now.

Is that on Friday that your going to consume 36 cases of beer ???
Many many :cheers to you !!!!!
Okay, little thread clarification, Villa is French for "house," I think. Ramadan is the Muslim "holy month," kind of like Lent, but basically mandatory. And instead of giving up one thing, they kind of give up everything. For a month. No sex, no drinking, etc. No food or drink (even water) between sun-up and sun-down. Most of the stores are closed, the booze stores are DEFINETLY closed, hence the apprehension about beer supplies, and proper justification for spending $1300 on beer. And filming it. And serious contemplation about breaking into someones home to steal beer. But we've been succesful in circumventing the lack of alcohol sales, i.e. drinking someone elses beer. Day five, beer math does not add up properly. Anxiety is building as we're still three and a half weeks away from the finish line, and cases disappearing and not being replaced is scary. Best of luck to all involved, everyone is invited to villa 1 to celebrate Ramadan anyime, just show up with a case more than you're capable of drinking. Of beer, that is.
:cheers To Ramadan. A true test of a Rats math skills. And willingness to admit blatant abuse of alcohol when doing that math.

Junior, did your Villa Stash get attacked by the Management Villa hop last night?
Pacific, have you found Malabu too?
Nah, management doesn't make it's way over to this side of the tracks too often. That might change in a few weeks, but for now we've succesfully made that a one way road in our favor. And, of course, in a few days, as the CAW's fall a few points back in the "beer can toss," we'll have another reason for a post-work coordination meeting. :cheers

Well, I believe Ramadon ends today, if that one guy looks at the moon and scratches his balls just right or something, but the point is, we've sold off three cases to other people, and we still have 9 cases left, entering into the 2 days holiday weekend.
It's all about thinking and planning ahead. :rockwoot: Failing to Plan, is Planning to Fail.
The guys from Villa 1 that were here last night are more than welcome to stop on by any time they like. :cheers

It will be tough to top the last video, but I got faith in ya.:rm
Ramadan has officially ended. We were able to restock our supplies tonight, which, thank you to the guys in Villa Two, had held out to some degree. But now that the Holy Month is officially behind us, I'd like to take a minute to reflect on this magical, spiritual time that we were so fortunate to have been a part of. Some things I learned during Ramadan:
1. Ramadan SUCKS BALLS. Seriously. I'm not one of the guys who will get on site here and bash Islam, I do have a good bit of respect for the religion and its followers. But Ramadan is, like, the worst holiday ever. I always thought Huanakah was lame, but chalk one up the the boys in the yamakas, Ramadan is about ten times worse than the festival of lights.
2. I kind of understand the whole extremist point of view now. If, for one month out of the year, EVERY YEAR, you had to suffer through Ramadan, you'd be pissed off too.
D. I drink more per week than I'd ever like to admit to.
5. When calculating an alcohol stash, take into consideration all of the X factors. For example, not all Algerians stop drinking during Ramadan. They just stop buying alcohol. And drinking yours.
6. That Burka chick in the video is still bangin' hot.
Q. Working overseas and drinking go hand in hand. This job is completely intolerable if you go a few days without a couple of drinks.
9. Being given an excuse to drink on any given Tuesday during Ramadan will result in at least one U.D.I. (Unidentified Drinking Injury)
4. And lastly, there is no greater joy than smoking a cigarette and drinking a cup of coffee midday in front of a bunch of jealous Turks.
Again, thanks to the apprentices at Villa Two for their help and support. Next rounds on me. Ring That Bell!!!:cheers

Junior,
I have read this thread from beginning to end. I have seen the video, and I know all but one of the main characters. I have to admit, it was pretty funny. But after reading your last post, I realized a few things...
1) This must be your first muslim country. And for muslim countries, this one is a cake walk. You should try Chad, or Mauritania, or Saudi Arabia. No beer...period. Unless you have 5 times the single beer price. But, it is a muslim country during Ramadahn, so you get big bonus points. All Americans should experience it. It makes you appreciate places like...Cleveland.
2) Many of us have been with the ladies in the burka's. Most are not as fat assed or spoiled, or ignorant as the American women. Some ARE smokin. You should try the UAE. And several of the guys on sight will back me up on this. Your mouth would drop wide open. Nothing like it, trust me. When it's good, you know it. You know just by the eyes, and the sillouette, AND the walk!
3) Man, we all drink too much when we work overseas. Sometimes, it's hard to adjust when you go back home. Too many spoiled fat women running around, too many shows on tv overload, too much time on your hands, too much toy time...cars, bikes, fat girls. And yuck, American beer...Sam Adams is the only U.S. made beer, mass produced, worth drinking in the USA. Unless it's Ylling Ling. But few know Lienenkugels either, so I'll generalize. The Belgians make great beer.
4) How can anyone truly have a good bit of respect for ANY ORGANIZED religion? Especially one that, as Hosny Mubarak puts it, does nothing to correct the horror eating away at itself from within. Not even a simple apology? Beat those women, and welcome to the 5th century as far as advancements or aknowledgments. This coming from me, a former novitiate, or a priest in training for those un-affiliated. Organized religion should only be for the dead. They are the only ones that know what exists in the afterlife, truly...and the dead don't talk, haven't you heard. I still believe though, which is my problem I think...
5) I like your youthfulness, and your attitude. You may not have been around as long as some of Us other guys, but you and I would definitely have a few drinks, and a few arguments, and a roll in the gravel. Normal stuff, for overseas. And then business as usual on the next day. Ask Jester... He and I fought all the time, 20 minutes later, we were buddies again. Drink as much as you want, but be productive at work. My thumb still hurts....
6) I am glad to hear that Jester and Ratbro carried you through your drinking, as I know from experience, they are pro's. Even though Jester was known as straight-edge when I met him...the road to ruin, I am. Ask him. He'll tell you stories about St. Petersburgh, and a Ronald Mcdonald statue, and a scary sucker punch.
7) Any day making a Turk jealous, is a great day. I really enjoyed all the posts in this thread, and it makes me want to jump back in to the trade...in fact, I just may. Screw this office shit.
and finally,
I am glad you are all safe, and happy that you are all working, and getting drunk. Be careful guys, and lay low in the land of the Al-la-ak-bahs:cheers ...
in-sha-allah!
I agree with Junior's 4. and with WR's 7., not tooo sure about q. and z. and furthermore Leinenkugels gives me a headache. Sometimes have to drink 17 of them, but eventually you will always find ONE to give you a headache.
And Cleveland? Well out of great respect for you, WR, I say nothing about Cleveland except some Damn good and just some that are just damn electrcians come from there. All the electricial supers I worked for from Cleveland were great guys.
And finally, beer is just beer, unless you don't have any.:cheers
in-sha-allah!
And finally, beer is just beer, unless you don't have any.:cheers
Pops, you nailed that one for sure.
It's good to know you're still out there knockin 'em back.
Natch, I think I will make that my credo....:cheers
Hey WR, thanks for the post. Sadly, I've spent more time in Muslim countries than I care to think about, but this is my first lengthy stay in an Arab Muslim country (unless you count a month in Cairo, which I don't), and that makes all the difference. Been to Dubai several times and yes, it is a man's paradise. But I've been real fond of the majority of the moderate Muslims I've met in my travels and I hate that they get grouped in with the "other" Islamists out there. Fortunately, every other muslim country I've been to I've had the freedom to enjoy a nice cold Mesiter Max or a few pints of Effes. So this was a new, and hopefully a once in a lifetime, experience. Have to agree with you that the Belgians make great beer, but wouldn't leave my favorite Bavarian ales off of the top ten list. Just the mention of the word "Trappist" fills my heart with joy. Mmmmm, Chimay.... But on dollar pitcher night, some Amber Bock will do just fine by me. I'll have to remember to ask Jester about Ronald McDonald the next time we get together over a few rounds (his stories are much more animated that way...)
Well, I gotta run, there's a cold Stella with my name on it right now....:cheers
