Hey I was just wondering what everyones opinion is on the latest Red alert at the airports.
I guess it was inevitable but its gonna suck if they ban all carry- ons.
I know alot of us carry our laptops and cameras and etc. with us so they wont get stolen.
If we have to check these items we will be at the mercy of the airports, and I'm sure the insurance will go up too.:banghead
I guess with all that extra storage space though they can give us each a parachute:rockwoot: :cheers

Lets hear your thoughts:2cents

Well I guess they will probably change everything now, but it is their rule to make us carry our laptops as a carry on. Not saying that I disagree with this, because lord knows that I wouldn't still have mine if I checked it. You just can't go to some of these countries that we go to with valuables in your checked bags.
Would someone please shut the media down so our military can take these guys out.
reporters and lawyers fall about in to the same category with me. They are both right under that whale shit at the bottom of the ocean.
I listened to them at GITMO when I was there and damn near got sick and had to reframe from strangling them.
oh I guess I got off subject huh, sorry

I guess this is semi-related to the subject. My wife and I took out an insurance policy on all our electronics and cameras (laptops, MP3 players, DVD players, TV's, cameras and lenses, etc.) against theft and damage. All the stuff is values at about $15,000 and the annual premium is just under $200. The deductible is $250 per INCIDENT, not item. Example--if someone breaks into our house and steals everything we have insured, we would only pay $250; but if I dropped my camera and busted it to hell, I would still pay $250. Pretty cheap insurance for that much coverage. It's through State Farm in our hometown and we set it all up by email.

I, for one, would welcome less carry on baggage.
Can't tell ya how many times I've boarded a plane only to find that there is not enough space in the overhead to put your hand in there, let alone my little carry on with my bathroom kit and a few pairs of underwear in case my luggage gets lost. I'm able to get computer, camera, and everything I need on the flight in one small backpack style bag, so why in the hell do these people need a small suitcase, (usually on rollers with a handle), a separate computer bag, maybe a back pack, and usually something the idiots bought in the terminal (and way overpaid for) in a big oversized plastic bag, or two?
:wtf
I've seen people actually having problems getting all their stuff down the isle to their seats and then block the isle while they over load the overhead bins with a load of shit that should/could have been checked or sent ahead. :banghead
I have spent so much time on airplanes that I don't like to get on one until it's nearly last call and all the idiots are finally starting to settle down, but if you wait, you will not find space for you own stuff.

First, I'm glad I left Iraq a week early or I'd be living at LHR right now. What are the rules going to be when you have Classified info on your computer? Is it going to violate your security clearance when you check your laptop? As far as I know any computer containing Confidential and above CAN NOT LEAVE YOUR POSSESION when travelling...:wtf :banghead

you can take carry on, the exceptions were liquids and gels, but some of those are now being allowed on board.

Todd,

I would check into that very carefully. I know they prefer you to be careful with "Sensitive but Unclassified", but it isn't a security violation. I am positive that it is a serious security violation to have anything higher than that on your personal laptop whether you are escorting it or not.

could be, but here in the USA they are allowing small bottles of baby formula, and now liquid non prescription medicenes. they said other then liquids, gels, & pastes on person were banned, but other carry ons were ok, but you will need to take off your shoes. After 9-11 I flew out the first fews days after flights started back up and there wa so much confusion on what you could take on board or couldn't, it was a mess.
