It would be hard for anyone who watches CNN to have missed all the hype and advertising going on for the Angelina Jolie interview with Anderson Cooper....
I had no real interest in seeing it ---- my thoughts of her (those that are printable anyways) was she was just a Brunette version of the Paris Hilton sort, although a better actress, and a lot more attractive to me, and this was going to be a Holywood hype job--- she was the spokesperson for the UN refugee agency. My Idea was Sally Struthers......you know the "If you give just $3.98 :fauches: a day to honest John Smith, TV minister, you can save a child....
She was a real surprise --- a very deep person that has a real understanding of the dynamics of the real world, how screwed up it is in a lot of places, of how it really works, and goes about trying to change what she has a chance of changing, in an intelligent and reasoned manner.
AND she spends ONE THIRD of HER income on refugee relief issues.
A lot of it she spends directly --- say a village needs a well ---SHE hires a driller and makes it happen, not just donating say $1000 to a charity or govt agency, for a well that is needed right away, and MAYBE, by the time the rains come in two or three years they might be soliciting proposals for said well or, more likely, doing feasibility studys with it until its all gone, and then never drilling the well at all.
If you have some free time and have the same limited choice of English TV shows I Have, definitely, give it a look.
Cheers,
