It has been a while since I looked at the page, that only visitors to the site can see.
What I saw was alot of topics with a varying amount of views, and only a small amount of replys.
Lets see if we can change that.
So , here it is,,,, Can we use this thread, as another "voice it " section, to the general public ????
Use it for anything you want related to the site, Questions, Comments, Anything related to overseas work , Helpfull advice is ALWAYS Welcome.
Just try to keep it clean, and lets see where it goes.

Incognito,
That is , not quite exactly where I was wanting this thread to go, But , I will take it as a compliment just the same.
By the way, I cut myself on one of your Copper solder Joints last week.
Nice job !!!! Here's hot, boiling acid :cheers
Are there any real topics out there to discuss. ?????
Yo, Pops,
I posted it here , so it would be Viewable to anyone who can access the site. I hope i did it right.

The ball is still in your court Headrat,
Where do you want it ???
Maybe we should wait and see, WHAT exactly gets posted, if anything.
Thanks for joining in on the topic H.L. Rob.

I don't see any reason to move it to letting everyone that passes by and able to post. We would get every 14 year old surfing for porn posting all kinds of stuff on this thread. All Registered and Subscribing members can see it. Are you looking to find something in particular?

No on the 14 year old Monkey boys !!!!!!
Just amazed already that, only 3 days ago I started this thread, Totally open to ideas, thoughts , input, comments, and suggestions, and there is nothing there yet, related to that. yet there was 110 views.
So , other than Pops and Incognito,,, nobody has nothing to say , add, suggest ??? Maybe all the bases are covered then with the other posts inside the site.

I am just an apprentice and I still wipe my solder joints without gloves.
Give me a break Monkey Breath.
So, Here is a Question,
If a fellow was wanting in on this overseaes gig,, Who or what should I do ???
Who do I contact to get a clearance started ???
How do I get someone to sponcer me , to do a background check ???
Is that the process, orr do I just try to send an E-mail with my resume to get " we will hold onto it for 6 months". ??? :blahslap

Hi Incognito
That is the milion dollar question. Most employers won't hire you without experience or someone that is working for them to recommend you---
even with someone to push for you it is hard with out experience and a track record.
Some people just cant deal with a foreign country and freak.
One guy I recommended years ago, a top hand, who taught me a lot of what I know, former Marine, did a tour in Nam, Purple Heart the whole bit, was totally freaked and didnt last 3 weeks, in a place that I thought was great.
Companies like Jones / Fluor do have a helper trainee program but most of the people I saw coming thru that were sposored by someone, relative or friend.
One plumber I know that worked for Jones worked for their domestic division and was hired international when the happened to need some one and he was willing, an electrician I know worked for Fluor in power plants --I worked for Perini Western and I heard they wanted someone for a one month job at an embassy --- I sent a resume, got lucky, and 11 yrs later I havent went back.
Zachry solicited craftspeople for clearances at the Texas Unemployment offices for the Moscow project....
Probably the best advice to give is try to work for one of the domestic divisions of an international co and be persistent, send resumes, call, even try to drop in to an office and meet some one-- they might be having a good day and like you.
Good luck

I am curious, Caddell got the Moscow annex in the sept. 05 bid go around at
us$77mil +. But I am not earing anything about the project. Any one know anything?
If I was just starting out trying for a clearance, I would go to Houston, Texas to the KBR craft hiring hall, get a domestic job and start bombarding them with applications, as a current employee, to work overseas.
Same with Zackery in San Antonio, Texas.
When I was with JA Jones they ask me different times, if I new any young guys that wanted to learn a trade. It sounded pretty good to me us$18 +- per hr. and same per deim as a journeyman.
At the same time if I was a proven journeyman, I would push all the oil type companys for work to get the first overseas experience.
True, a lot of guys just can not handle this life, military guys are used to a very structured life, told what and when to do everything, as a construction worker you are basicly on your own. A whole new life style. Plus a lot of women can not handle it so a lot of guys give it up are get a divorce.
I had my first gig in 1966 I am still out there and have the same wife, she has not all ways liked it, but she likes the life style it brings her.

I am very disappointed with all the hands in places like china, moscow, and all the african project's.
why the hell do you guys not contribute?????????We need all the info we can get, some of us like to stay home and criticise the different contracts, not me of course.
No kidding, I enjoy hearing from all you guys, you taking any sight seeing trips, got an outside ass hole on the job we need to be aware of? good food, good beer, good pu---, we have over 500 guys now and only 15 or 16 are regular contributors.
Before sites like this were possible, in my business I put out a small newspaper every month so every one knew where everybody was. Also who got drunk and ended up in what jail, etc. :blahslap
I prefer to not know names but would like to hear news.
Take care
Mexfishguide:cheers
I think I'm like a lot of people on here...if I have questions, I'll ask; if I have news, I'll post. I put something on here if it's useful information but I don't like to post just to hear myself talk.
Damn justis--When you slam the door the building shakes!!
I believe the point trying to be made is that with over 500 members on line--most are just sitting back and "lurking". What we would like to see is more info about the various projects and the surrounding areas. Like is the area you are in fit for human habitation and is the beer served cold or warm.
Repeated requests from the rats around the world to up date us on their jobs just don't get answered.

Alky and Mex fish have got it right,
I have been complaining about this for over a YEAR now.
Where is all the input ?? Other than the Few ???
Remember at One Point I voted to shut this S.O.B. down because of it.
I don't wanna get on my soap box again, and re-start this fight. :sport002:
I get enough of that with a Woman. :blahslap :nono:
