Just wanted to send a hello to everyone out there in the forum. I'm new to this site and possibly going to be new to the oversea's contracting gig too? I plan on reading up and getting as much information as i can on oversea's work before i really make any life changing plans. So I'm looking forward to reading as much advise as i can get. Thanks in advance.

Little background on me:

I dug ditches for AT&T and then Lucent in San Diego, CA for 2 years.

Then i joined the Army and served as a 31L. A telephone lineman for you non-military personnel.

Now I'm sitting in an office as a Project Manager for a Cabling Infrastructure company.

I had a secret clearance when I left the Army in 2001 but I'm not sure if it's any good anymore? :blahslap :blahslap :cheers

Tell any of your other military buddies, especially if serving and looking to get out, being as they have clearances, come here, subscribe, and you'll be on your way to a new career soon. :rockwoot:

Don't like the boys and girls over there watching the contractors making all the money while they are doing all the REAL work.

10 years from the date i received it or 10 years from the time i got out of the military? I'm not sure if the Military had to re-new it or anything after I initially got it?

They're good for ten years from being instated, only needs to be reviewed at the end of the ten years if you are not using it.

Ok my second question is this then. How would i go about getting a copy of my clearance? Or how would someone go about verifing that my clearance is still good?

The reason i ask is because it's not like the Army handed my a copy of my clearance when I got out and at this point I was just always told that I had a clearance? I know about every 6 months or so we would have to verify all of our information and they would always say it's for our clearance?

Thanks in advance for the help HeadRat!! This site is awesome!! :dankk2:

Well, first you need to know if it is through DOD or DOS, using the Freedom of Information Act you can get access to anything that has your name on it. Disco, usually holds your clearance, they just grant people access to it's number for jobs.

You will have already known about the SF-86 then. We, as contractors, have to use it as well, but my impression is that it was more for military people.

First getting in with a contractor is your best way of searching it out. They will do all that for you and if you need any other paperwork, they will set that in motion.

Also, if you think it's great now, Subscribe and you can see the WHOLE site. Right now you can only see parts of it.
